A Passion for Teaching
February 21st, 2006It is hard for me to remember what learning was like without technology. I can remember going to the computer lab on a weekly basis as far back as the 2nd grade. Yup, I was one of those students who got to turn the computers on in the morning and shut them down in the afternoon!
As a teacher, I really don’t know what it is like to teach without technology. I have never kept a paper grade book and have no idea how I would have gotten through the past seven years without the use of computers.
I learned during my student teaching experience and the years that followed, many teachers were just plain scared of the “devil in the box,” as it was once described to me. And as a passionate teacher, I was and still am immediately drawn to these individuals.
I do not consider myself to be a technician, though I have learned enough to fix MANY user errors. I do consider myself to be a teacher who could not teach without technology and that is what I hope to share with you! I will not only include resources for students, but also resources to help all teachers become technologically confident.
